The Pareto principle teaches us that small subsets of a population cause more impact than its majority population. This principle, mathematically speaking and not surprisingly, also applies to many variables and scenarios related to leadership.
It applies to corporate contributions!
“Contributions of a small set of leaders in a particular population is more impactful than the overall impact of the majority of the leaders in that same population.”

The small rules the large — Simply put.
It applies to finance!
“A small subset of leaders in X company make more than the majority of leaders in that same company.”
It applies to college recruiting!
“A small number of colleges receive the majority of the available applications for college admission.”
Clearly, the application of the Pareto distribution in the workforce can be quite depressing even though it can serve a critical and predictable function that leaders can use to strategize their units in any industry.
Be aware of this distribution. Its applicabilities in the workforce are vast and worth paying attention to.
