“Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people. For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, captives of various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.” — Titus 3:1–3

As Christians, we understand the sacred balance between obedience and leadership. There are seasons when God calls us to follow, and seasons when He calls us to lead, both require humility and discernment. “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls” (Hebrews 13:17). Obedience is not weakness; it is wisdom under God’s direction.

There is no wisdom in slandering others or stirring up strife. “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger” (Proverbs 15:1). Even when others speak ill of us or treat us unjustly, we are called to respond with gentleness. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).

This doesn’t mean we must accept every opinion or tolerate wrongdoing. Rather, it means that in the core of our being, in our spirit, we must remain kind, humble, and Christlike. “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (Philippians 4:5)

There are many in the world who live with malice, envy, and hate in their hearts. For them, we must pray. Pray that the light of Christ pierces their darkness and transforms their hearts. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Let us live as examples of that light, obedient to God, gentle with others, and steadfast in love. For being with God is not a burden, but a divine gift of peace and purpose.

May we reflect Christ’s gentleness in all things, remembering that once we too were lost, but now we live by grace. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

God bless.
