Have you ever thought about becoming a soldier of Jesus Christ?

The ways in which we can serve the Lord are far more flexible than many people realize. In this brief reflection, let’s explore how we can serve God with both purpose and practicality.

In Matthew 28:16–20, we read:

“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”

Notice that we aren’t called to serve Christ in one particular way. The methods by which we can be His soldiers are open-ended; they are flexible! What a blessing that is.

As 2 Timothy 2:3–4 reminds us:

“Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.”

This means that whether online or in person, our mission is the same! To please God and advance His Kingdom.

So what am I saying? I’m saying that you and I can use the tools at our disposal, including the internet, to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. The digital world has given us new opportunities to connect hearts and minds for the glory of God.

Here are three simple ways we can share the Good News:

Face-to-face: Through personal conversations and daily interactions. In small groups: By gathering with others to study Scripture and encourage one another. Online: Through discussions, blogs, videos, and social media that point others to Christ.

Isn’t that amazing? No matter the method, the mission remains the same: to proclaim Jesus Christ to the world.

As Romans 10:14–15 reminds us:

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? … How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

Let’s rise up and serve faithfully, as soldiers of Christ in every arena of life.

Let’s get the conversation going and find new ways to spread the gospel. Shall we? God bless you as you serve Him boldly!
