The righteous, the wise, and their works are in God’s hands. People do not know whether to expect love or hate; everything lies ahead of them. Everything is the same for everyone… for the one who takes the oath and for the one who fears an oath.”
— Ecclesiastes 9:1–2
All things, our joys, our labors, our struggles, are in the hands of Almighty God. We cannot always predict what tomorrow will bring: love or conflict, peace or trial. Yet in every season, God remains sovereign. His hand is steady even when our circumstances are not.
So, enjoy your life and do good works in this world while you have breath. We all will one day face the end of our earthly journey, but that truth should inspire us to live meaningfully today. As the Word reminds us, “There is nothing better for a person than to eat, drink, and enjoy their work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God” (Ecclesiastes 2:24).
Even so, Scripture also warns us: “The hearts of men are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live” (Ecclesiastes 9:3). So guard your heart. Do not be drawn into the darkness or deceit of this world. Keep your faith anchored in Jesus Christ, who redeems, restores, and strengthens those who trust in Him.
Be good and do good in God’s eyes, because it pleases Him. Smile often. Give and receive hugs. Laugh freely. Eat and rejoice with your family and friends. Work diligently and live purposefully. Each day is a gift from God, an opportunity to reflect His goodness.
Remember, this life is temporary, a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes (James 4:14). But our greatest reward is not here; it awaits us in heaven, where Christ sits at the right hand of the Father. So live fully, righteously, and joyfully, knowing that God is in control.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23).
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4).
Carpe Diem—Seize the day. Live your lives extraordinarily, in Christ.
Never forget, brothers and sisters: God is in control.
